Complaining and Nagging Wives - Stay Away PDF Print E-mail

Last week the Govt. Channel of Lok Sabha TV presented a gender discussion on Misuse of Dowry laws. Well as far as misuse is concerned, let me be very specific as to what I mean by it. Misuse of dowry laws pertains to, Lodging a false complaint of dowry harassment against husband and in-laws and then misusing state machinery to achieve adverse goals.

However, Supreme Court Advocate, Meenakshi Lekhi, who was present on the show, was highly reluctant to accept the misuse, though she did after the citizens blasted her with their complaints and harassment as they were victims of the law misuse. But the recent judgment by the Honorable Supreme Court of India, barely days after the discussion was aired, must be a blow to her face, wherein the Supreme Court quashes a dowry harassment case against NRI husband.

However, the bone of contention is not the validity or gravity of the claims of misuse. With the Honorable President of India and the Honorable Chief Justice of India having expressed concern over the rampantly growing misuse, its acceptance is not a rarity now.

Rather this article focuses on other issues pertaining to it. Coming back to the case at hand, the NRI husband, Harmanpreet Singh Ahulwalia, being relieved of a false dowry harassment case, there are two things noteworthy here.

Lower Judiciary inept in dealing such cases:

Knowing well, that the allegations made were not based in India, and were rather based in Canada, the case simply made no ground to be contested here as the jurisdiction was wrong, the lower court completely erred in continuing the prosecution even after the police gave clean chit to the husband. Also the fact that the girl's father was related to the police department and had connections within the department was ignored.

If at all the allegations held some ground, the complaint would have been made in Canada, but since the legal system there is better than in India, the girl's father chose to misuse the state machinery against the hapless and disempowered husband in India where misuse of dowry laws is as easy as ordering a pizza, further adding to the fact that the lower judiciary is inept and incompetent in meetings ends of justice.

Caution note for men, avoid nagging wives:

Another close study of the case at hand reveals two important things.

  1. Always check the background of a divorcee: Indian men are living in a fool's paradise and therefore consider women to be truthful at all times till they are hit below the belt, Whenever a divorcee narrates tales of harassment they believe it to be true and consider themselves as heroes saving a destitute woman and later suffer the same fate as the previous husband of the divorcee woman. Hence it is very essential that whenever you marry a divorcee, always check her background and make sure that your current would-be wife has not,

a.    Threatened/filed her ex-hubby with false cases.

b.    Extorted money from her ex-hubby.

  1. Never bring a nagging wife back: If your wife goes to the police station and files a false complaint against you, because she wants to treat you as a FREE ATM MACHINE, never ever bring such a woman back into your life under any circumstances. For, the next time she complains, you will be in a tough position to defend as the question would rise, when you knew she makes false allegations, why did you bring her back or else the allegations are true. Harmanpreet Singh Ahulwalia, the husband in the case at hand was lucky enough to be set free in such a case, but most men are not and those who have brought back complaining and nagging wives have paid a very heavy price.

Most men will disagree with the article since they tend to go by logic. However, my duty is to create awareness. Whether to agree/disagree is a choice left to the readers.

We always make the mistake of calling lawyers to ask if the law need to be changed . Would on ever call Hitler to a
discussion where the fate of Jews is being decided . Why di we ask people lile Meenakshi Lekhi and women like these who
make money from these laws ? Lawyers are the people who sell these laws to run their homes .With Bail being the major
income of lawyers , why would a lawyer want to change this law which is a major source of Bail and litigation revenue
for them ? Ask the Judges if the law needs to be changed , Ask the women of India if the law needs to be changed , Ask
the Supreme court , Ask the malimath commission , Ask the presient of India . Instead we ask the butchers if the law to
slaughter goats needs to be amended to ensure justice for the goats !! What a tragedy .

Men’s Rights – Perspiration or Inspiration?

As I think about the today's theme - it reminds me of Thomas Edison, the man who invented the electric bulb. He had made a famous statement "Things are 99% perspiration, 1% inspiration"

Same applies to men's rights movement as well. It is a matter of constant awareness campaign and hitting at our opponents and proponents of male abuse. Contrary to popular belief, it is 3 times easier to abuse a male than a female because males have no support structure and male abuse is accepted by the society as social service.

Follow Yourself; Not Tradition

As I have repeatedly mentioned in my articles that cultures have deceived men, acting as vultures. Men have been used as the FREE ATM MACHINE, the UNPAID BODYGUARD, the de-facto PROTECTOR and PROVIDER, etc. by cultures and in the process have been reduced to disposable entities. Their abuse is considered a social service now.

And men, the way they are, are in a great way responsible for this. They rarely challenge or question conventions, traditions, histrionics and stereotypes thrust upon them. They do not feel the need to fight for their rights - only a handful of them are doing though scores are getting victimized. They do not demand for their space in the society and accept things as offered to them.

To this effect, today I take the example of Skandagupta - the great emperor of India. His stepmother has him sent to Ujjain so that her son can be made the emperor. He obeys her. But then the Huns attack India under the leadership of Attila the Hun. The army of Skandagupta calls him back as they needed his expertise.
