As I have repeatedly mentioned in my articles that cultures have deceived men, acting as vultures. Men have been used as the FREE ATM MACHINE, the UNPAID BODYGUARD, the de-facto PROTECTOR and PROVIDER, etc. by cultures and in the process have been reduced to disposable entities. Their abuse is considered a social service now.

And men, the way they are, are in a great way responsible for this. They rarely challenge or question conventions, traditions, histrionics and stereotypes thrust upon them. They do not feel the need to fight for their rights - only a handful of them are doing though scores are getting victimized. They do not demand for their space in the society and accept things as offered to them.

To this effect, today I take the example of Skandagupta - the great emperor of India. His stepmother has him sent to Ujjain so that her son can be made the emperor. He obeys her. But then the Huns attack India under the leadership of Attila the Hun. The army of Skandagupta calls him back as they needed his expertise.

Skandagupta goes back; defying his mothers orders, defeats the Huns and gets the dubious distinction of being the first Indian to have beaten a foreign invader. He then goes back to his empire overtakes the same from his stepbrother and takes the reign in his hand and goes on to become one of the biggest emperors of Indian History.

The key thing to note here is that Skandagupta challenged his mother - something which does not happen normally in India. Fathers are challenged with a far greater ease and comfort than mothers. In fact, no one dares to challenge a mother in India and we also have social memes like Mother Nature and Mother Earth whereas the role of a PROTECTOR and a PROVIDER (played by Earth and Nature in unison) is attributed to a father.

Because Skandagupta did not follow tradition and followed his heart, he could manage to change the history. Had he followed tradition and refrained from defying his mother's command, Attila the Hun would have ruined India and today we would have had a totally different history.

Similarly, men need to break the shackles of tradition and shun the role they have been donning for centuries together. Existing realities offer nothing to men. Should the men require that their demands are met, they will have to create new realities like:-

  1. No more conformances to the role of a PROTECTOR and a PROVIDER.
  2. Live life their own way and have their own choices.

This is the only way to men's liberation. Follow Yourself, Not Tradition.

Not true. there were other Indian emperors like Chandragupta Maurya many
centuries before.

Yodha ,
you r correct that skanda gupta victory was neither the first nor the last victory actually the victory of
Skanda Gupta is interesting becuase the battle was fought around the same place as the battle between Porus and
Alexander . and the odds against Skandagupta were higher but he made one important tactical or strategic innocvation he
protected the Indian Long bow from Rain by covering it this nullyfied the the major disadvantage porus had against
Alexander.
the other ofcourse was that he slept on the floor in austere tent which raised the morale of the troops.

His military innovations during the time ensured that the later rulers like Yasovarman , Bappa Rawal , harsha etc
ensured for 500 years no successfull invasion . niether chandragupta Maurya , Neither Balban , nor Akbar can be
credited with that kind of success

challenging the meaningless customs and use common sense to take sensible decisions that affect everyday life.

Hello Buddies, We understand one point in this discussion is that Mr.Virag trying to say that we indians are always very
good at listening to stories than real life challenging. It is our tradition to always put a story following a
discussion. Because, like kinter garden kids, we need to feed indians and make them understand through way of handling
with kids. Grow up Indians. We still need a lot of different to see in 21st century INDIA, By Great Indian.

Sneak A Peek

Men’s Rights – Perspiration or Inspiration?

As I think about the today's theme - it reminds me of Thomas Edison, the man who invented the electric bulb. He had made a famous statement "Things are 99% perspiration, 1% inspiration"

Same applies to men's rights movement as well. It is a matter of constant awareness campaign and hitting at our opponents and proponents of male abuse. Contrary to popular belief, it is 3 times easier to abuse a male than a female because males have no support structure and male abuse is accepted by the society as social service.
