Men have made some great contributions to the various fields of science and technology which has increased the comfort level in every sphere of life by leaps and bounds.

 

  1. Electricity was discovered by a man called Benjamin Franklin.
  2. The Telephone was discovered by Alexander Graham Bell, another man. 
  3. The greatest postulates of Physics have been given by 2 men, Albert Einstein and Sir Isaac Newton.
  4. Aeroplanes were invented by the Wright Brothers, again 2 men.
  5. The wonderful phenomenon of Electro - magnetism was discovered by Michael Faraday.
  6. The steam engine, the basis of rail based transport, was again given by James Watt.
  7. One of the most remarkable contributions was that of Penicillin by Alexander Flemming.
  8. The wonderful principle of floating and immersed bodies was given by Archimedes.
  9. Leonardo da Vinci gave some nice paintings to the world explaining so many wonderful and hidden facts and stories, Monalisa being one of them. And it was not only painting, his talent canvassed areas as diverse as painting, medicine, science, mathematics, religion and many more.
  10. Tim Berners Lee for giving the world, the World Wide Web or the Internet.

These contributions by men are just a tip of the iceberg. Without these contributions from men, the world as we see it today would have been an entirely different place not with so many facilities and technologies around. But sadly enough now we see there is no gratitude for all these wonderful contributions that men have made. Rather there is always an adverse media coverage portraying the negative side of men.

The world and the society needs to realize a fact that it is the men who have contributed so much to the world often sacrificing their own aspirations.

Men’s Rights – Perspiration or Inspiration?

As I think about the today's theme - it reminds me of Thomas Edison, the man who invented the electric bulb. He had made a famous statement "Things are 99% perspiration, 1% inspiration"

Same applies to men's rights movement as well. It is a matter of constant awareness campaign and hitting at our opponents and proponents of male abuse. Contrary to popular belief, it is 3 times easier to abuse a male than a female because males have no support structure and male abuse is accepted by the society as social service.

Follow Yourself; Not Tradition

As I have repeatedly mentioned in my articles that cultures have deceived men, acting as vultures. Men have been used as the FREE ATM MACHINE, the UNPAID BODYGUARD, the de-facto PROTECTOR and PROVIDER, etc. by cultures and in the process have been reduced to disposable entities. Their abuse is considered a social service now.

And men, the way they are, are in a great way responsible for this. They rarely challenge or question conventions, traditions, histrionics and stereotypes thrust upon them. They do not feel the need to fight for their rights - only a handful of them are doing though scores are getting victimized. They do not demand for their space in the society and accept things as offered to them.

To this effect, today I take the example of Skandagupta - the great emperor of India. His stepmother has him sent to Ujjain so that her son can be made the emperor. He obeys her. But then the Huns attack India under the leadership of Attila the Hun. The army of Skandagupta calls him back as they needed his expertise.
